These gun toting nuns are really creepy in this poster for The Town

THE TOWN looks like another flick that Ben Affleck will gain some praise for.

Even though it’s only his second directorial effort, I’m thinking that it might top GONE BABY GONE. There’s also a chance that I’ll view it more than once, because GONE BABY GONE depressed the shit out of me. Just like MYSTIC RIVER did. Although MYSTIC was the winner in the “I’m sadder than shit” race. No, I take that back, REVOLUTIONARY ROAD takes that title.

I’m veering off-topic now. The point is, the movie looks great. +10 points for putting Jon Hamm and Jeremy Renner in this film together. Today, Apple debuted a very eerie poster for THE TOWN. You’ll recognize the costumes from the film, but in this poster, the effect of them seems to be stronger. “Welcome to the bank robbery capital of America.” Thanks for giving me nightmares for two weeks.

Official Synopsis:

“Doug MacRay (Ben Affleck) is an unrepentant criminal, the de facto leader of a group of ruthless bank robbers who pride themselves in stealing what they want and getting out clean. With no real attachments, Doug never has to fear losing anyone close to him. But that all changed on the gang’s latest job, when they briefly took a hostage–bank manager, Claire Keesey (Rebecca Hall). Though they let her go unharmed, Claire is nervously aware that the robbers know her name… and where she lives. But she lets her guard down when she meets an unassuming and rather charming man named Doug….not realizing that he is the same man who only days earlier had terrorized her. The instant attraction between them gradually turns into a passionate romance that threatens to take them both down a dangerous, and potentially deadly, path. “
