JJ Abrams hasn’t had to cryptically market something for a while now, as Lost is of the air and CLOVERFIELD seems like ages ago. STAR TREK just needed some glossy, lens-flaring trailers to promote it, but now Abrams is back to his roots, sending out cryptic pieces of viral marketing for SUPER 8, his super secret UFO adventure.
Apparently there was some secret website about the Rocket Poppeteers a while back, and if you correctly figured it out, you got the below letter in the mail. This one is from Flex over at MovieGod.
In case you can’t read the text it says:
“Welcome to the Rocket Poppeteers Astronaut Program!
Rocket Poppeteers is looking for the best and brightest to help Captain “Coop” Cooper with his biggest space adventure ever!!!
Do you want to join the fight to protect outer space? Do you have what it takes to become a certified Rocket Poppeteeres Astronaut? Just like Captain “Coop” Cooper, Rocket Poppeteers Astronauts are strong and courageous. Only the most brave, true and loyal candidates will be able to succeed. Are you ready to begin? Remember, kids: Real Spaceman Love Rocket Poppeteers!!!
Below that it says “Space Challenge: How many stars are on this page?” Surely this is some secret mind puzzle JJ Abrams has designed to f*ck with our heads. Or there are just 16 stars.
