Before INCEPTION, most of the news coming down the pike in regards to BATMAN 3 was to be taken with HUGE doses of salt. That included speculative rumors of who The Dark Knight would be doing battle with in what’s arguably the most anticipated sequel in the game right now.
But after INCEPTION? Now the wheels are going to be really turning at Warner Bros. and movie news outlets will likely be privy to better-sourced information as a result.
Case in point: FirstShowing.net has gotten word from a reliable inside source with access to a studio casting grid that The Riddler is in fact listed as a character in the impending comic book movie sequel. Here’s FirstShowing.net with more:
“Even more interesting, the actor currently listed in the same grid to play the assumed villain is none other than Joseph Gordon-Levitt, whose status is just listed as ‘interested.'”
“What the heck is a ‘studio casting grid’?” you might be wondering. Basically, a studio casting grid is a document with data pertaining to the roles in a project, possible actors for those roles, and other information regarding the progress of a project. These are primarily used for business planning amongst production companies and agencies in the industry.
Like FirstShowing, I’ll be quick to point out that this does not mean Joseph Gordon-Levitt is The Riddler. But, this is likely indication that the actor will probably be up for the role (amongst others), and even more likely that The Riddler will be the film’s prime villain.
