All Michael Bay wants to do is give us a good quality TRANSFORMERS film that will entertain the shit out of us.
He’s more than just the guy behind, or um, in front of the explosions. He’s humble, caring, and even willing to take some flack for REVENGE OF THE FALLEN. “I’ll take some of the criticism. It was very hard to put (the sequel) together that quickly after the writers’ strike (of 2007-08),” so said Bay while standing at a set built to resemble a dilapidated nuclear reactor. Producer for the TRANSFORMERS films, Lorenzo di Bonaventura elaborated on the rush job, “We tried to do too many things in the second movie, which didn’t give enough time in any one of them. We were constantly jumping to the next piece of information, the next place.”
All excuses for TF2 aside, they are hoping to learn from their mistakes and move forward on the third film. Bay starts by saying, “This one really builds to a final crescendo. It’s not three multiple endings.” He then moves on to reveal the villain for the third installment, Shockwave.
We already knew that the “racist” robot twins were gone, but so is all of the “dorky comedy,” as Bay calls it. However, John Turturro is staying.
Expect Shia LaBeouf to reach manhood. di Bonaventura even quotes one of Sam Witwicky’s magnificent lines, “You know, I’ve saved the world twice, but I can’t get a job.” On the subject of LaBeouf, he admits to missing Megan Fox, but says that their characters were becoming one and that it’s time to discover things from a new perspective.
This is a slight look into the plot of the film, “it delves into the space race between the U.S.S.R. and the USA, suggesting there was a hidden Transformers role in it all that remains one of the planet’s most dangerous secrets.” Bay says that it’s a bit mysterious and, “ties in what we know as history growing up as kids with what really happened.”
Bay ends on this note, “As a trilogy, it really ends. It could be rebooted again, but I think it has a really killer ending.”
And yes, it will be in 3D.
