With superhero films AND classic animation reboots all the rage in Hollywood, I’m honestly surprised we haven’t gotten a MIGHTY MOUSE movie sooner. Executives at Paramount and Nickelodeon Movies must be thinking the same thing as they’ve plucked the MIGHTY MOUSE movie from their development hell and put it back on the fasttrack. The studio has thrown out any existing scripts (including one from the writers of JOURNEY TO THE CENTER OF THE EARTH 3D) and are looking to start fresh with a new writer and director.
While Paramount works with DreamWorks Animation on their films, this animated project will be developed separately (think SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS or JIMMY NEUTRON). And it’s unclear whether the studio wants to even make a traditionally animated film. They’re currently evaluating whether to do an animated film or something along the lines of UNDERDOG or ALVIN AND THE CHIPMUNKS. (One thing you can bank on is that the film will be in 3D.)
Do you have a preference for how the film would be shot? Do you even care about a MIGHTY MOUSE film? I think there’s a way they could do it that would certainly get me interested but I’m expected they probably won’t go that route…
