Oh Cameron Crowe…When will you return?
Perhaps sooner than originally thought.
While Crowe’s DEEP TIKI project with Reece Witherspoon and Ben Stiller has yet to get off the ground, the director is apparently circling a script that is adapted from Benjamin Mee’s memoir “We Bought A Zoo”.
Back in 2006, Mee was a do-it-yourself columnist for the U.K.’s Guardian newspaper. The writer took it to a whole new level when he decided to move into a rundown twelve-bedroom mansion in the English countryside with his wife, two children, brother, and 76-year-old mother. On top of that, the mansion included a 30 acre wildlife park that was home to 200 wild animals. Their success was bittersweet when Mee’s wife, Katherine learned that she had terminal cancer.
A script was already written by DEVIL WEARS PRADA screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna. If Crowe steps in, he will be doing a few rewrites for the film. Crowe hasn’t directed a film since 2005’s ELIZABETHTOWN. He’s also got a Pearl Jam documentary that due out next year. All I know is that I miss this man and hope to see something from him soon.
