Absolutely incredible BAFTA Best Picture nominee posters

JoBloJoBlo

There are movie posters, and then there are movie posters. These five excellent pieces from illustrator Tavis Coburn were commissioned by the BAFTA for their awards show, and I have to say, I’m pretty stunned by them.

They feature BAFTA best picture nominees (and also Oscar nominees) AVATAR, PRECIOUS, UP IN THE AIR, THE HURT LOCKER and AN EDUCATION redrawn in ways that put their real posters to shame. I’m most impressed with the AVATAR one, which incorporates elements of the tech behind the film, though really, they’re all equally spectacular.

I only wish that Coburn had been commissioned by the Academy to do renditions of the other five films nominated. Who wouldn’t want to see his take on DISTRICT 9 or UP?
