Hard to believe there was a time that TV was where talent ended up when their movie careers started to dissolve. Now top-level directors, producers and actors flock there for the promise of big regular paychecks and returning audiences.
The old 60s Jack Lord cop show “Hawaii Five-0” is surfing back to the small screens for a 21st Century update, with “Lost” star Daniel Dae Kim and series-killer Alex O’Loughlin (“Moonlight”, “Three Rivers”) patrolling the islands as elite police who answer only to the governor.
Also coming in with the tide are superproducers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci (STAR TREK, “Fringe”, etc.), and now according to IESB, director Len Wiseman will deliver the pilot episode’s tropical thrills, hot sweaty bods and, of course, murder.
Although he has been attaching himself to all kinds of things (GEARS OF WAR, ATLANTIS RISING, SHRAPNEL), Wiseman hasn’t climbed behind the camera since Bruce Willis rescued us from the rogue internets in LIVE FREE OR DIE HARD. Maybe a paid Hawaiian “working vacation” sounded too good to pass up.
