Gossip Girl’s Blake Lively is Green Lantern’s gal

JoBloJoBlo

When big-screen hero GREEN LANTERN isn’t otherwise occupied with saving the planet using his nifty jewelry, he’ll be osculating with a Gossip Girl.

TV star Blake Lively has landed the role of Carol Ferris, the love interest of Hal Jordan (Ryan Reynolds).

Ferris runs her father’s aerospace company (quite an accomplishment for the 22-year-old) that hires cocky test pilot Jordan, who gets conscripted into the intergalactic Green Lantern Corps and is tasked with protecting mankind by fabricating emerald-colored objects with a powerful ring.

Actresses Eva Green, Jennifer Garner, Diane Kruger and Keri Russell were all reportedly up for the role, but the studio was apparently impressed with Lively’s audition and work in Ben Affleck’s upcoming heist drama THE TOWN.

Two-time Bond relauncher Martin Campbell (GOLDENEYE, CASINO ROYALE) is directing the Warner Bros. action/sci-fi flick about the DC Comics hero. The movie is due in July 2011.
