Singer talks X-Men

X-MEN movie fans seem excited that director Bryan Singer is officially returning to the Marvel mutant franchise for the prequel FIRST CLASS. What’s in store for the presumably Logan-less adventure?

As Singer tells Heat Vision: “I’ve written a pretty concise treatment. There’s a story that I really want to tell.” The specifics of what he has planned are still top secret, but he does reveal that “it’s basically about the formation of the X-Men. How they began and the relationship between a young Xavier and a young Magneto.”

So where does that leave the previously proposed X-MEN ORIGINS: MAGNETO? It seems that Fox would rather have that story told by the guy who launched the X-movie series. “This story would probably utilize some of the Magneto story because it deals with a young Magneto,” Singer says, “so it might supersede that because this would explore that relationship between a young energetic professor and a disenfranchised victim of the Holocaust.”

Singer also describes the supposed studio skirmish about his X3 exit as “comical and exaggerated”, and also says that JACK THE GIANT KILLER will likely be his next project — possibly in 3D, as the filmmaker found AVATAR “inspiring.”
