Wolfman gets rating

JoBloJoBlo

The update of the classic monster movie THE WOLF MAN hasn’t had an easy transformation from start to hairy howling finish.

First, director Mark Romanek (ONE HOUR PHOTO) abruptly left  shortly before filming, and was replaced by FX guy Joe Johnston (JUMANJI, JURASSIC PARK III). The Universal remake shot in early-mid 2008, with rumors of behind-the-scenes difficulties and reported reshoots. The release date lurched all the way through 2009 until it’s current slot on Feb. 12, 2010.

But even after all that time, the movie still has fangs. THE WOLFMAN has officially been rated ‘R’ for bloody horror, violence and gore.

The Victorian-era terror tale stars Benicio del Toro as the lycanthrope (courtesy of Oscar-winning FX guru Rick Baker, of AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON fame), tasting or evading divine Brit Emily Blunt, Hugo Weaving and Sir Anthony Hopkins.
