Tomei and Tyler

Marisa Tomei and Liv Tyler have signed on to star in 10A/10B, a remake of the Korean film 301/302. While it’s billed here as a “psychological thriller,” I don’t know that I see at as much of a thriller unless they’ve done some major “Americanizing” of the plot. I’m just saying I wouldn’t go into the original film expecting non-stop thrills and chills. It’s pretty much a slow burn until the end.

The remake would star Tomei and Tyler as neighbors in an apartment complex with an odd relationship. Tyler would play a culinary expert while Tomei a failing actress with an eating disorder. The chef constantly cooks meals and tries to engage the other woman socially but is routinely suggested. When one of them turns up missing we learn a little bit about each of their pasts and a surprising link is revealed. Cheol-su Park, who directed the original film, will direct the remake as well. While that seems like a good idea, it hasn’t always worked in the past (see THE RING 2). Filming on 10A is expected to begin on June 1st in Los Angeles.
