No drunken Stark?

Robert Downey Jr. is out promoting the drama THE SOLOIST, and while he doesn’t seem to address Jamie Foxx’s ridiculous-looking hair in that movie, at least he’s spilling a little about IRON MAN 2.

One of the (or possibly the only) well-known Iron Man comic stories that interested director Jon Favreau was the “Demon in a Bottle” arc, where Tony Stark’s taste for the sauce interferes with his superheroing. It’s been the biggest question mark as to whether we’d see Sloppy Stark swerving around in the power suit this time, but the actor says the spirits will remain casually consumed for now.

I think that’s probably best saved,” Downey tells MTV, “because it’s such its own storyline. We’re going for the interim space [between the origin and “Demon”], which is more a look behind the mask of someone who says he’s Iron Man and what it really is to become a superhero.”

Considering the broad fanbase of the original, and the fact that the Marvel sequel will be juggling in even more characters, it’s perhaps best not to introduce alcohol abuse into the reasonably family-friendly franchise. Although we can apparently expect a svelte Scarlet Johansson in skintight clothing, as Downey tells ET: “We’ve been rehearsing and she’s in insane shape. She’s getting lean and mean.
