Burton adds Ladies

One of my most anticipated movies for next year has got to be Tim Burton’s ALICE IN WONDERLAND, if not for Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter alone. As the film begins production, Burton continues to fill out his cast, this time with a couple of big-name actresses taking the roles of the red queen and the white queen. The characters will be played by Helena Bonham Carter and Anne Hathaway respectively, the former being Burton’s wife/muse and a virtual mainstay in his films.

Although this film is being made for Disney, I hope Burton makes it as dark and gothic as possible. While it’s widely considered a children’s story, there’s actually some pretty twisted stuff going on in those pages, and Burton’s definitely the man to bring all that murky, sinister stuff to life.
