Bangkok trailer

If a remake only retains the original movie’s title and setting, is it still considered a remake? I wondered that as I watched the trailer for BANGKOK DANGEROUS, the Pang Brothers’ update of their own 1999 hitman thriller.

The original flick revolved around a deaf-mute assassin, and offered an interesting look at how someone with that physical limitation might function in such a deadly profession (both with and without his mentor/partner). This one seems to be about Nic Cage as an American hired gun with frightening hair who blows into Thailand for a few kills and a taste of local girls. Whatever.
