I love a good poker movie. Maybe that’s perhaps because I enjoy a good poker game. I still get a kick out of ROUNDERS and I’m really looking forward to THE GRAND. Directed by Zak Penn, writer of many comic adaptations like X-MEN: THE LAST STAND and THE INCREDIBLE HULK, the film follows a man trying to win a poker tournament to save his grandfather’s casino from a ruthless developer.
But Penn basically gave his actors – including Ray Romano, David Cross, Ray Liotta, Woody Harrelson and Shannon Elizabeth – the plot outline and let them go nuts improvising all the dialogue, filming the scenes during an actual poker tournament. I’ve heard great things about it from people who’ve seen it and I spoke to David Cross recently who was really proud of it. The movie hits theaters on March 21st and we’ve got the exclusive premiere of the red band trailer here on JoBlo! Of course you’ll have to prove you’re of age to see the restricted trailer but once you do, you’ll be good to go!
