Bond will be… funny?

JoBloJoBlo

Eeesh. I hope this quote from new 007 Daniel Craig was just taken out of context, because I don’t think any of us want the Bond franchise already devolving into the same dippy levels of farce that struck the later Moore flicks after the serious success of CASINO ROYALE.

Craig, who brought us a more beefy, brutal Bond than before, says that “They [the producers] just want more gags. The next one’s going to be a lot funnier. Octopussy and Pussy Galore style gags. They’re all great names – but that’s the thing, the Bond jokes will be flipped on their heads.

I dunno, I’d much rather see the henchmen flipped on their noggins, and tossed down stairs and off buildings and riddled with massive amounts of bullets. Preferably without the bad Brosnan-era quips. Let’s just pray the writers don’t take an inadvertent turn into AUSTIN POWERS territory, because three of those were excruciating enough.

The new Bond flick, currently untitled, is due in theaters November 2008.
