The Wachowskis have assembled a pretty impressive cast for SPEED RACER and have added another member to their crew – none other than Shaft himself, Richard Roundtree. The actor will join the film playing Ben Burns, a former racer now making his mark as a color commentator on the races. So think of him like Joe Theismann only not a complete putz. As I’m sure you’ve already heard, the film stars Emile Hirsch, Christina Ricci, Matthew Fox, Susan Sarandon and John Goodman in the role of Chim-Chim Pops. The Wachowskis are currently filming in Berlin but they could really be filming anywhere seeing as how they’re doing all this on green screens. Those wacky Wachowskis…
