Fox no doubt expects FANTASTIC FOUR: RISE OF THE SILVER SURFER to perform at least as well as the original did at the box office (though they’re, of course, hoping it outperforms the original by a wide margin) so it’s no surprise that they’re already looking to develop (Note: registration required to access the site) a solo project for the film’s titular argent star. They’ve set TV and comic writer J. Michael Straczynski to pen the screenplay and, in an effort to appease the fans that were downright disgusted by RISE OF THE SILVER SURFER’s goddamn PG rating, they’re hoping The Surfer’s film skews considerably darker and grittier than his blue spandex-wearing companions’ pictures. Straczynski, a former writer for “The Twilight Zone” and “Babylon 5”, is quite familiar with The Surfer’s world, having recently published the first of four issues of a “Silver Surfer: Requiem” series. More importantly, though, what do you guys think about The Surfer getting his own flick?
