If you’d previously written off Chris Weitz’ upcoming HIS DARK MATERIALS: THE GOLDEN COMPASS, an adaptation of the first of Phillip Pullman’s classic fantasy trilogy, as just another pathetically cheap attempt to cash in on all that mad LORD THE RINGS/NARNIA money, wait until you get a load of the below sizzle reel for the film. The effects are mostly unfinished, there’s a lot of green screen but the truly epic scale of it all is already apparent and it does, in point of fact, sizzle! I for one couldn’t help but shout out a hearty “boo yah!!” after seeing the footage. The film opens December 7th.
