He’s an original way to turn a frown upside down. SMOKIN’ ACES is the kind of movie that revels in its own ballistic bliss, which may not necessarily appeal to some of the “professional” reviewers out there.
So writer-director Joe Carnahan and his marketing monkeys used blurbs from New York Times critic A.O. Scott’s mauling of the flick (HERE), doing the standard studio switcheroo of pulling negative quotes and transforming into something positive, with a fairly hilarious result.
