Pre-production has begun on Corin Hardy’s The Conjuring 2 spin-off The Nun

It still remains unclear just how a spin-off focused on THE NUN character from THE CONJURING 2 is going to work, since that nun had a very specific reason for lurking around the characters of THE CONJURING 2 that wouldn't extend into her own feature. Whatever explanation is given in the screenplay Gary Dauberman and James Wan have written for THE NUN, they seem to have found a way that works because THE NUN has now officially moved forward into pre-production.

Director Corin Hardy marked the occasion by tweeting out the image below. The picture isn't much to look at, it's just a piece of paper with his name and the movie's title on it, but this more about what the image represents that what it actually shows. THE NUN is happening.

I may be uncertain about this project in some areas, but I do trust that Hardy can make an entertaining film out of the concept of an evil, supernatural nun, and I'm glad to see that he's ready to start rolling on something after he was left twiddling his thumbs on THE CROW remake for far too long.

THE NUN will be Hardy's second feature, following THE HALLOW.

Even as I question THE NUN, I hold on to confidence that this will be better than the first spin-off from the world of THE CONJURING, ANNABELLE.
