It was barely over a year ago that director Sarah Adina Smith's feature debut THE MIDNIGHT SWIM reached theatres and VOD. Since then she has contributed the "Mother's Day" segment to the horror anthology HOLIDAYS, and now her second feature is already making the festival rounds.
Oddly titled BUSTER'S MAL HEART, Smith's new film stars Rami Malek, who just won an Emmy for his role on the TV series Mr. Robot, as
Jonah, a troubled man on the run from fate. Malek exposes the depths of Jonah's soul in this smart thriller, peppered with dark humor and laden with interlocking mystery.
Described as a "visceral mind-bender", BUSTER'S MAL HEART is a movie that promises to "provoke discussion long after it turns your world upside down." The hype machine is running at full steam there, but it certainly does its job in making this film sound like it will be an interesting viewing experience.
Malek's co-stars include Kate Lyn Sheil and DJ Quall.
The teaser trailer can be seen below, and while it does nothing to let you know what the movie is about, you might find its odd nature intriguing.
BUSTER'S MAL HEART will be screening at Fantastic Fest at 5:45pm on Saturday, September 24th. A second screening will follow on Monday the 26th at 5:15pm.
