Conjuring 2 spinoff The Nun is already in the works

THE CONJURING 2's ectoplasm hasn't even gone cold and a spin-off has already been announced. This isn't much of a surprise, considering they launched ANNABELLE at us practically seconds after THE CONJURING smashed the summer box office in 2013, but still. Give us some room to breathe.

The spinoff in question will be titled THE NUN and will revolve around the sinister, be-habited entity that haunts Lorraine and Ed Warren throughout the film. The character, which was actually invented in reshoots, is a very Wan-esque creation, slapping face paint on a person with interesting bone structure and calling it a day.

I can't say I'm particularly excited about this development (and in fact, it doesn't make all that much sense according to the continuity of the movie), especially considering the ultimate disappointment of ANNABELLE. But I suppose any horror flick with nuns in it is worth a shot.

CONJURING 2 co-writer David Leslie Johnson will be penning the script. There is no word on whether the actress who played the nun, Bonnie Aarons, will be returning.
