Walter Skinner and the Smoking Man set to return to The X-Files

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Joining David Letterman on The Tonight Show Tuesday, David Duchovny was pressed to elaborate on the newly announced 6-episode mini X-Files reunion. And unlike Mulder, he actually tipped his hand. Peep it…

When asked point blank what original characters we can expect to see in the much-anticipated series return, Duchovny quipped:

“There’s Gillian and I, we’re original. Mitch Pileggi will come back, and the cigarette-smoking man — if that means anything to anyone — will be coming back.”

Ah, the Cigarette Man, played William B. Davis. It wouldn't be The X-Files without that creepy dude lurking in the smoky shadows, so that's encouraging to say the least. Dedicatees of the show might know that his character's name was revealed to be C.G.B. Spender in season 6. Also returning is Mitch Pileggi, who played the key role of FBI Asst. Director Walter Skinner in the hit sci-fi series.

Until we hear more of The X-Files return, let us know how stoked you are and what you want to most see when the show returns in the near future.
