Mena Suvari – remember her? – has nabbed the lead role in Amazon’s “Hysteria”, a new pilot from writer Shaun Cassidy (“American Gothic”, “Invasion”). Alcon Entertainment is producing.
Hysteria centers on Dr. Logan Harlow (Suvari), an exceptionally bright, driven, complicated, charming but socially awkward neurologist/psychiatrist at the University of Texas Medical School who travels to her hometown of Austin, TX to investigate a mysterious epidemic among high school girls that may be spreading through technology.

Suvari’s career has been low profile lately, at least compared to the early 2000s when she was poised to become the Next Big Thing, but she’s been acting fairly steadily, appearing in “American Horror Story” briefly and recently completing an arc on the hit drama “Chicago Fire”.
