THE BUTTERFLY EFFECT and FINAL DESTINATION 2 writer Eric Bress (above right) has just been announced to helm Open Road Films' upcoming supernatural thriller TESTAMENT. Open Road landed U.S. rights to the flick that was also written by Bress. It sounds like this one could have a lot of potential and will certainly be worth keeping any eye on if your a fan of films that explore the end of the world.

From Open Road Films CEO Tom Ortenberg, "TESTAMENT is a strong high concept story and there is no one better to bring it to life than director – writer Eric Bress.  Along with Nicholas Chartier and his team at Voltage Pictures, we anticipate the film will not only appeal to a wide moviegoing audience but that they will also be glued to their seats for what we expect to be an awesome thrill ride.”

The thriller takes place at a prestigious boarding school in a remote part of Texas and revolves around a science teacher and his students who are forced to fight for their lives when the Ten Plagues of the Old Testament descend not only on the town, but the entire world. It starts with blood filling the school’s swimming pool — as fast as it fills rivers, lakes and oceans worldwide — and that is followed by frogs, lice, wild animals, pestilence, boils, hail, locusts, darkness and death of the first born.

Let's just hope it's better than THE REAPING

There has been no casting news just yet, but with shooting to begin in March 2014 I'm sure it wont be long before we start seeing some names attached to the thriller. Open Road is aiming to release the film in the first quarter of 2015.
