‘Tis another installment of “Please Give us Your Ratings, Oh Wise MPAA!” where we allow the esteemed organization to tell us which movies the teenagers can see and which ones they’ll have to sneak into. This week is a good one.
First up is the no-doubter: Rob Zombie’s LORDS OF SALEM. You didn’t actually think he’d make anything less than a hard-R did you? His latest gets an R for “Disturbing violent and sexual content, graphic nudity, language, and some drug use.” Sounds like another night at the Zombie household. LORDS OF SALEM has not been given a release date yet.
Next is WARM BODIES; we showed you the trailer yesterday, and it looks like a sweet and witty take on the zombie genre. The Jonathan Levine-directed pic is a PG-13 for “zombie violence and some language.” WARM BODIES comes out on February 1st.
Then we have the Guillermo del Toro-produced spookfest MAMA, starring Jessica Chastain. This is another PG-13, for “violence and terror, some disturbing images and thematic elements.” Sure sounds like a solid horror feature, PG-13 or not, so we won’t hold the rating against it (yet). MAMA comes out in January.
Finally, there is Marlon Wayans’ spoof A HAUNTED HOUSE, which is an R for “crude and sexual content, language and some drug use.” We’d expect nothing less from a Wayans. HAUNTED HOUSE hits in January as well.
