With his twisted road trip comedy SIGHTSEERS on the verge of being released in the UK, Ben Wheatley has moved on to a psychedelic war story called A FIELD IN ENGLAND, which we told you about back in September. Apparently working at a rapid pace, Wheatley has wrapped the flick and entered the post-production phase.

Film4, the production company behind the flick, has released the first still from A FIELD IN ENGLAND, which you can see above. Subtle and eerie, isn’t it?

The film follows a small group of deserters fleeing from a raging battle through an overgrown field. As they are captured by O’Neil, an alchemist, they are forced to aid him in his search to find a hidden treasure that he believes is buried in the field.

Crossing a vast mushroom circle, which provides their first meal, the group quickly descend into a chaos of arguments, fighting and paranoia, and, as it becomes clear that the treasure might be something other than gold, they slowly become victim to the terrifying energies trapped inside the field.

Michael Smiley, Reece Shearsmith, Richard Glover, Ryan Pope, Peter Ferdinando and Julian Barratt star in A FIELD IN ENGLAND; we’ll let you know when we hear more about it.
