FRANKENWEENIE is on the way, a film the reunites Tim Burton with former BEETLEJUICE cast mates Winona Ryder and Catherine O’hara. At a recent press junket for the film held at Disneyland, the trio were pressed for information on BEETLEJUICE 2, which is currently being written by DARK SHADOWS scribe Seth-Grahame Smith.

Ryder sounds a bit less than enthusiastic about the topic:

“I’ve heard it’s being written but that’s all I know. So yeah… I guess it would be great if it happens.”

You can practically feel the electricity running through her words. Then again, she is an actress who cornered the market on mopey goth characters throughout the 90s, so it may just be “Old Winona” shining through. Burton himself had a bit more to say:

“Right now, the writer is writing something and I have no idae when it’s coming. I didn’t give him too much direction because I want to try to not have a lot of preconceived ideas about it. Sometimes you want to be surprised, but I love the character and if it’s a good script, then great. But there’s no point really for me thinking about it until I see it.”

So it sounds like BEETLEJUICE 2 could shape up to be a real-life, honest-to-God movie. Best of all– we don’t have to see the title character go Hawaiian! Hooray! What do you guys think? Are you down for some more of the ghost with the most? Talk back below…
