Back in March we brought you the news Imagine and LBI were intent on refashioning George Orwell’s seminal masterwork 1984 back to the big screen. Good look Mr. Noah Oppenheim!

Deadline has it that Oppenheim has been hired to adapt the novel to the big-screen. Oppenheim has previously written nothing fruitful, but has a number of projects in the works, including a WAR GAMES remake. Not sure that qualifies him as worthy of tinkering with Orwell, but whatever.

As you know from school, The story of Winston Smith presents the world in the year 1984, after a global atomic war, via his perception of life in Airstrip One (England or Britain), a province of Oceania, one of the world’s three superstates; his intellectual rebellion against the Party and illicit romance with Julia; and his consequent imprisonment, interrogation, torture, and re-education by the Thinkpol in the Miniluv.

Next comes a director and cast. Stay up…
