Monday came the news that Alessandro Nivola had been cast by Atom Egoyan to play the lecherous Terry Hobbs in THE DEVIL’S KNOT, the fictionalized account of the West Memphis 3 case. As filming nears, another trio of actors have been added to the stable.

Deadline has it that Kris Polaha (above), Collette Wolfe and Justin Castor are all ironing out deals to appear in the flick alongside Colin Firth, Reese Witherspoon (below), Mireille Enos and Kris Higgins.

Polaha will play public defender Val Price in the movie about the conviction of the trio, who were convicted of killing three boys in Arkansas in 1993 despite no physical evidence. Wolfe as Firth’s character’s assistant Glori Shettles. Castor is set to play the key role of Jason Baldwin, one of the three defendants of the case.

Looks like the team is saving perhaps the most important role of all, that of third defendant Damien Echols, for last. A wise choice, must do due diligence to find the right man.

THE DEVIL’S KNOT lenses later this summer in Georgia.
