Back in February news came in that Benderspink was set to adapt THE NEW WEST, a dystopic graphic novel about the abrupt end of technology. Now, as a few months have passed, New Regency has picked up the adaptation that will be produced by TOTAL RECALL director Len Wiseman. No word yet if Wiseman will direct, but it’s certainly not ruled out at this time.

Written by Jimmy Palmiotti:

The story is set in a near-future Los Angeles where an electromagnetic pulse bomb has caused all technology to stop working. In this hostile environment a disgraced former LAPD detective must rescue a kidnapped mayor with only a horse and a sword.

Kind of sounds like that new J.J. Abrams series “Revolution.” Even so, with technology as rampant as ever in our daily lives, the premise proves an interesting one. As always, the execution of it is another question altogether.

More on THE NEW WEST when it sets in.
