The last update we got regarding BJ McDonnell’s HATCHET III came exactly one month ago when we learned that genre hottie Danielle Harris had officially signed on to the project. Now that piece of news alone had me completely sold… considering I’m in love with the scream queen and all… but in case you were still on the fence with this one today’s casting update should push you right on over!
According to Variety a number of names have just signed on to star in the film alongside Harris and the returning Kane Hodder, including genre vets Derek Mears and Caroline Williams! Sean Whalen, Diane Goldner and Jason Trost round out the new cast members.
Mears (above) is of course best known for his take as ‘Jason Voorhees’ in that FRIDAY THE 13TH reboot while Williams (below) is best known as our heroine from THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE PART 2. Mears will play a brooding, pompous SWAT team leader who is sent in to contain the carnage strewn about the haunted swamp. Williams will play a fast-talking journalist who fancies herself an expert on the legend of supernatural stalker Crowley. That’s right people.. We’ve got ‘Jason’ versus ‘Jason!’ Mears versus Hodder! Nice!
Story finds Harris hunting down the true secret to ending the voodoo curse that has left Crowley’s ghost terrorizing Honey Island Swamp for decades.
Filming on HATCHET III is set to kick off near New Orleans in late May and will last until mid-June. You know what that means, right? More HATCHET III goods should be rolling our way soon!
