SIDE EFFECTS, Steven Soderbergh’s examination of the frightening world of psychopharmacology, has been redubbed THE BITTER PILL, it’s original title. Back in November we heard Endgame Entertainment had shelled over the dough for the production, and now it looks like another actor has been given a prescription…

According to Deadline, Vinessa Shaw (pictured) is circling a role in THE BITTER PILL. If she scores the part, she’ll join Jude Law, Channing Tatum, Rooney Mara, Catherine Zeta-Jones and David Costabile.

Per the trade, Shaw will play the wife of Law’s character. He plays a doctor who gets into a relationship with a troubled woman (Mara) who is taking serious amounts of prescription drugs. Her intake is ostensibly designed to help her deal with the anxiety surrounding the pending release of her husband (Tatum) from prison.

Scripted by Scott Z. Burns (CONTAGION), THE BITTER PILL is currently in pre-production. Open Road Entertainment will distribute the flick sometime in 2013.
