Gareth Evans’ THE RAID received some amazing buzz following its premiere at last year’s Toronto International film Festival. “Best action movie in years” seemed to be the universal opinion, and that’s something you can’t ignore. (Our own Chris Bumbray caught it at Sundance and concurred with the praise.) The movie was immediately picked up by Sony Pictures, which subsequently began remake plans. While we may grumble about that, it’s great to see the studio giving the original film a proper theatrical release before the Hollywood makeover; a true testament to THE RAID’s apparent awesomeness.

The official trailer for THE RAID (which has been given the subtitle REDEMPTION, for reasons unknown) has just been issued via Yahoo! today, but you can peep it below to witness a sample of the ass-kicking, fire-balling, machete-swinging mayhem the flick contains.

Rama, a member of a special forces team, arrives at a rundown apartment block with a mission to remove its owner, a notorious drug lord. The building has become a sanctuary to killers, gangs, rapists and thieves seeking accommodation in the one place they know they cannot be touched by the police. When a spotter blows their cover, Rama and his team must fight their way through every floor and every room not just to complete their mission but to survive their bloody ordeal.

Personally cannot wait for this one, and the wait won’t be long: THE RAID REDEMPTION hits theaters on MARCH 23rd. For now, let the trailer kick you square in the face below.
