A trailer for a trailer usually sounds pretty dumb, and in most cases it would be ignored by us… But this is ALIEN pseudo-prequel PROMETHEUS we’re talking about, and by Crom, we’ll take whatever we can get!

Apple (which is continuing its Day of the Trailer with a real seriousness) debuted the PROMETHEUS sneak peek in anticipation of the real trailer, which is coming in three days. Although there isn’t a whole lot to really latch onto, there’s enough to see that it looks very much in the same vein as ALIEN… And that should get all of you pretty damned excited. (Check out the trailer in HD over HERE.)

Ridley Scott, director of “Alien” and “Blade Runner,” returns to the genre he helped define. With PROMETHEUS, he creates a groundbreaking mythology, in which a team of explorers discover a clue to the origins of mankind on Earth, leading them on a thrilling journey to the darkest corners of the universe. There, they must fight a terrifying battle to save the future of the human race.

The film stars Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender, Guy Pearce, Idris Elba, Logan Marshall-Green and Charlize Theron; it opens on JUNE 8, 2012.
