It was right before Halloween that we caught our first glimpse of Tim Burton’s FRANKENWEENIE, when a black and white still of the animated chiller had been pressed. Now, thanks to our twisted kin over at STYD, a few more behind-the-scenes photos have been put out. Click HERE to scope the rest.
As you can see above, meticulous craftsmanship goes into every single frame of the stop motion process. That there fella is tweaking one of the character’s bodies ever slow slightly as to maintain continuity for the next shot. Having dabbled with this sort of thing in high school, I can tell you, stop motion is f*ckin tedious. All the more rewarding when it comes off the way you intended!
From creative genius Tim Burton (“Alice in Wonderland,” The Nightmare Before Christmas”) comes “Frankenweenie,” a heartwarming tale about a boy and his dog. After unexpectedly losing his beloved dog Sparky, young Victor harnesses the power of science to bring his best friend back to life—with just a few minor adjustments. He tries to hide his home-sewn creation, but when Sparky gets out, Victor’s fellow students, teachers and the entire town all learn that getting a new “leash on life” can be monstrous.
A stop-motion animated film, “Frankenweenie” will be filmed in black and white and rendered in 3D, which will elevate the classic style to a whole new experience
