It was back in August that we last had anything to report about Mary Harron’s gothic new horror flick THE MOTH DIARIES, which, at the time, scored some new promo posters. Well, it looks like this sucker will find U.S. distribution sooner rather than later.

Word is IFC Films is set to purchase U.S. rights to THE MOTH DIARIES. No telling when IFC plans to release the film, but if they do so theatrically, it’ll likely be in limited capacity in conjunction with some kind of VOD platform. That’s just a hunch based on IFC’s past, so keep that in mind.

With Lily Cole (below), Sarah Gadon, Sarah Bolger, Scott Speedman, Valerie Tian, Judy Parfitt and Melissa Farman – THE MOTH DIARIES sets us:

At an exclusive girls’ boarding school, as a sixteen-year-old girl records her most intimate thoughts in a diary. The object of her growing obsession is her roommate, Lucy Blake, and Lucy’s friendship with their new and disturbing classmate. Ernessa is a mysterious, moody presence with pale skin and hypnotic eyes. Around her swirl dark rumors, suspicions, and secrets as well as a series of ominous disasters. As fear spreads through the school, fantasy and reality mingle. What is true and what is dreamed bleed together into a waking nightmare of gothic menace, fueled by the anxieties, lusts, and fears of adolescence.

Keep it near for a release date.
