It’s no secret that the success of the THE TWILIGHT SAGA has caused several other young-adult novels to aim for the big screen. It seems one of those is Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl’s BEAUTIFUL CREATURES.
Now apparently Alcon Entertainment had announced this shite two years ago with Warner Bros. set to distribute and Richard LaGravenese tapped to direct. This is the first we’re hearing of that so we’re just going to roll with it.
Here we are, two years later, and according to the guys over at Bloody-Disgusting this thing has just started casting! What have they been doing for the past two years?
The first of a five-novel series by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl. In the first book, high-school student Ethan Wate meets and becomes bewitched by Lena Duchannes, a 16-year-old whose family has moved to the small South Carolina town where he lives. The two must confront a curse that has haunted her family for generations as she comes to grips with her powers.
The idea is that Richard LaGravenese is still set to direct with Warner Bros. still set to distribute, though that hasn’t been confirmed yet. We’ll keep our eyes open for more on BEAUTIFUL CREATURES and if we figure it to be the least bit better than THE TWILIGHT SAGA we’ll let you know!
