Lionsgate set to drop Method Man’s The Mortician onto DVD this February

Do you guys remember that genre flick starring Method Man called THE MORTICIAN? I don’t blame you if you don’t, the last time we talked about that shite was way back in September of last year. Now for some reason I happened to remember this little treat so when news dropped today on when Lionsgate will be releasing it, well I decided to rush right over here to tell all of you!

It seems Gareth Maxwell Roberts’ genre thriller is gearing up to drop on DVD, Digital Download and On Demand on February 14, 2012. What a perfect flick to watch on Valentine’s Day! Unless you’re planning on getting some of course…

The Mortician processes corpses with a steely regard. He is alienated and cold. He feels threatened by his new employee, Noah, who brings the notorious gangster, Carver, to the mortuary door. The Mortician’s attention is pricked by the tattoo of Botticelli’s ‘Birth of Venus’ on the body of a murdered young woman, Jenny. A fleeting recognition triggers a sequence of haunting dreams from his childhood. He discovers a scared child, Kane, fleeing the morgue. Carver interrogates him about the whereabouts of the boy. The Mortician witnesses Noah drag Kane into the shadows of a derelict tenement. Forcing him to act, Kane sparks the Mortician’s emotional awakening. Emerging from his icy state, the Mortician and Kane become reluctant allies united in their struggle to escape the physical and emotional chains that threaten to imprison them.

The Mortician is a redemption tale that triumphs kindness over cruelty.

Sporting a cast that includes Method Man, Dash Mihok, EJ Bonilla, Judy Marte, Ava Santana (below), Angelic Zambrana, Edward Furlong, Dana Fuchs, Wendell Pierce, Anthony Michael Fredrick, Luis Da Silva Jr. and Cruz Santiago, THE MORTICIAN’s only special feature will be a featurette titled “Autopsy: Dissecting The Mortician.”
