I’m sure a lot of you out there would agree with me when I say ‘Hannibal Lecter’ is easily one of the best characters in our genre. You really can’t put a finger on what makes ‘Lecter’ so intriguing… He just is.
Now with that being said how would you react if I told you that NBC were moving forward with a televison series based on… you guessed… ‘Hannibal Lecter!?’ You’d pretty much flip your sh*t, right? That’s what I thought.
Well with the news coming in today from Deadline Hollywood that does indeed seem to be the case. The drama, titled “Hannibal,” was written by Bryan Fuller, who has previously worked on shows like “Pushing Daisies” and “Heroes.” He’ll be executive producing the series with Martha De Laurentiis.
Fuller is kicking right into gear with a 13-episode first season, meaning “Hannibal” will skip the pilot stage and move right to series if NBC says so. While no solid plot outline has been divulged we do know this new series will be based on the iconic literary and film character Hannibal Lecter.
How about them apples? What do you guys think? Can you dig a series based on ‘Hannibal Lecter?’ I think it’s safe to say SILENCE OF THE LAMBS’ Anthony Hopkins won’t be on board for this but then again who knows… As soon as we hear more on this very intriguing project you can bet we’ll bring that news right to all of you.
