Could Nicolas Cage be joining the cloth in new exorcism flick The Quiet Ones?!

I don’t know about the rest of you but I think I’m done with exorcism flicks. Hell the sub-genre didn’t do much for me in the first place, now it seems like every other week there’s a new exorcism flick coming out. THE POSSESSION OF THIS PERSON, THE EXORCISM OF THAT PERSON… it’s getting ridiculous, no?

Well unfortunately it doesn’t seem like the trend is ending anytime soon. Apparently there’s another exorcism-themed film on the way called THE QUIET ONES, which had Antti Jokinen attached to direct. According to the guys over at Bloody-Disgusting that doesn’t seem to be the case anymore…

Instead, Hammer Films and Exclusive Media Group are opting to go with QUARANTINE 2: TERMINAL director John Pogue for this demonic romp. It just so happens that Pogue also penned the script for THE QUIET ONES. Funny how things work out.

The film is based on a supposedly true story about a team of Cambridge academics in the 1970’s who record their investigation as they attempt to exorcise a poltergeist from a young girl.

Here’s the best part – According to B-D none other than the great Nicolas Cage has been offered the lead role in the film! What?! If Cage (above) was to accept, he’d be playing “Joseph”, leader of a project known as “Gesit” (a German word for mind, spirit, or ghost, covering the semantic field of these three English nouns). …

Wow. I’ve got to admit… the thought of Nicolas Cage performing an exorcism does make me feel all giddy inside. We’ll be keeping a close eye on THE QUIET ONES to see how things pan out so be sure to check back soon for any updates that might come our way.
