I’m sure most of you are aware that Disney, Johnny Depp, director Gore Verbinski and super-producer Jerry Bruckheimer were all planning on bringing THE LONE RANGER to the big screen, right? Now generally a flick like this would have no place here on the pages of AITH. But then when the flick got shelved due to a skyrocketing budget word got out that there would’ve actually been werewolves in the film. Well that would damn sure catch our attention… too bad the thing was shelved, huh?
Well word today from Deadline New York has THE LONE RANGER’s budget a lot lower with things moving forward once again. So now with the knowledge that there will be some supernatural fun tied in with THE LONE RANGER it should come as no surprise that we’ll be tapping this shite from here on out! Seriously though, werewolves in a big budget Gore Verbinski/Jerry Bruckheimer flick that stars Johnny Depp? I’m there!
According to Deadline three key players in the film’s budget coming down were Depp, Verbinski and Bruckheimer, who’re said to have all made concessions in their deals. Early word has THE LONE RANGER tapped for a February 6, 2012 start date with Armie Hammer also expected to return to play the titular character.
So there you have it folks. We’re going to keep a close eye on this one to be sure we’ve got some genre fun here so as soon as any other updates come rolling our way we’ll be right here to tell you about them.
