So I once again ask you the question in the title of this article – Do you like campy 80s horror/comedies? You know, the over-the-top ones that have the scares and laughs go hand-in-hand. Well duh! Of course you do! So it’s with that thought in mind that I’ve decided to tell you all about a little feature coming our way called DRIVE-IN MASSACRE.
Yes, supposedly this is some sort of remake of the 1976 original… But oh it’s so much more than that. Here’s the rundown for this thing from the press release:
Have you been craving an 80’s styled slasher comedy in the vein of such horror staples as Slaughter High, April Fool’s Day or Killer Party? ….Well then get ready for Drive-In Massacre – a slasher that’ll tickle your funny bone and keep you on the edge of your seat in suspense.
A cursed drive in movie theater. A group of college aged kids who ignored all the signs. Now, one fateful night he will make them pay for their indiscretions…. in BLOOD!!!
Drive In Massacre aims to bring back all those nostalgic memories of going to a drive in movie theater late at night watching some scary old movie with your friends and incorporating a slasher film story with some 80’s teen sex comedy thrown in.
Drive-In Massacre delivers sex, drugs, murder & drive in movie theater. What more could you want?
Excellent question random press release. What more COULD you want? While a director for this thing has yet to be announced we do know it’s sitting comfortably in pre-production right now with a script from Brandon Sites, who is also producing, and a cast that includes B-movie scream queen Debra Lamb (below), Lisa Musser, Jeremy Schuetze, Spencer Harlan, Danielle Lozeau, Kit Williamson and Shawn C. Phillips. It’s set to start filming sometime next year.
So unfortunately it looks like we’ve just crossed the starting line with DRIVE-IN MASSACRE so we’ve got a ways to go until we see the final product on this one.
