It’s no secret that a fourth official UNIVERSAL SOLDIER movie just wrapped. I say it’s no secret because we here at AITH have brought you several updates on the damned thing in the past few months. What you probably don’t know is that there’s apparently a television show in the works based on the UNIVERSAL SOLDIER franchise! Now I’d say that’s coming directly out of left field, wouldn’t you?
According to our brothers from another mother over at JoBlo.com, the European television production company FremantleMedia have gone and snatched up television rights to the UNIVERSAL SOLDIER franchise and are planning to develop a “global television property.” Seriously? The franchise is basically clawing it’s way out of the depths with these direct to video sequels and FremantleMedia want to take a chance on a new television series? Who knows… maybe it’ll actually be pretty good?
Producers for this new television show are hoping it’ll be a ‘bold new way’ to update the UNIVERSAL SOLDIER saga. I suppose time will tell.
Unfortunately we don’t have any other details regarding the announcement but as soon as some more news on this thing comes rolling our way you can be sure we’ll pass it right along to all of you.
