By now you should all be aware that filmmaker Frank Darabont was sh*tcanned from his latest gig – “The Walking Dead’s” showrunner. In my opinion, as I’m sure most of you would agree, this was a huge hit for the show as it’s nearing it’s highly anticipated second season.
So who’s running this gig now? Now we know executive producer Glen Mazzara has taken over the showrunner gig but what we don’t know is how he’s going about it with this second season quickly approaching. Thankfully AMC have decided to clue us in a bit and has posted it’s latest ‘Dispatches from the Set’ interview. Low and behold it’s with Glen Mazzara! Time for some answers!
Alright so we don’t get many answers in the interview but we do get a lot of Mazzara’s (above left) insight to the second season. Here’s a little snippet:
Q: What particularly surprised you about this material?
A: Our approach to our group of survivors when they reach Hershel’s farm is that they are a plague unto themselves. Nothing goes right for Hershel once Rick and his band show up. They make the zombie apocalypse look like kids in a candy story. What’s interesting is that if this was a show solely about Hershel, Rick and his band would really be the antagonists. And that’s been really surprising because every action that Rick and his band take is completely logical, but you’ll certainly sympathize with Hershel.

“The Walking Dead” Season 2 is set to kick off on AMC starting October 15th with a cast that includes Andrew Lincoln, Sarah Wayne Callies (below), Laurie Holden, Jon Bernthal, Jeffrey DeMunn, Norman Reedus .
