Return of the Living Dead documentary More Brains in the works

I love the current trend of cult film series getting feature-length documentaries produced about them, and I’m even more pleased to report that the latest is dedicated to the RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD franchise. A definitive retrospective entitled MORE BRAINS!: A RETURN TO THE LIVING DEAD is currently in the works.

The docu comes from Michael Perez Entertainment and Hutson Ranch Media. Michael Perez is executive producing with Beverly Randolph, who plays Tina in the original film. Philputt (who produced HIS NAME WAS JASON and NEVER SLEEP AGAIN) directs, and Gary Smart and Christian Sellers wrote the script.

The film will apparently focus on the original trilogy. I think ignoring the two cash-ins that came later is fine with fans. Brian Peck, who appeared in all three movies, provides narration. Many of the cast and crew involved will appear, including the last interview with writer Dan O’Bannon about the film before his passing.

The details are still being worked out, but the filmmakers are looking for a fall release, with hopes of having it out in October. We’ll keep you posted.
