A short and sweet little update this week, since there’s not much going on for the genre in theaters right now. Michael Bay’s TRANSFORMERS: DARK OF THE MOON dropped to #4 from #2 in its fourth week with about $12 million. Its 44% drop in its fourth week was nearly identical to that of its predecessors.

In its seventh week of release, J.J. Abrams’ SUPER 8 has fallen out of the Top 10. It came in at #14 with $760,000. Meanwhile, Matthew Vaughn’s X-MEN: FIRST CLASS made another $335,000 at #19.

Next week will see the anticipated release of Jon Favreau’s COWBOYS & ALIENS. We’ll see how it fares against THE SMURFS. Joe Cornish’s ATTACK THE BLOCK and Jacob Tierney’s GOOD NEIGHBORS also begin their limited theatrical runs on Friday.
