IFC Films acquires John Landis’ Burke & Hare, coming in September

IFC films has acquired the U.S. release rights to BURKE & HARE. The horror/comedy will be released on September 9. The details of the release were not specified, but knowing IFC, the film will be available on VOD and play in select theaters before hitting DVD and Blu-ray.

The film is directed by John Landis (AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON) and written by Piers Ashworth and Nick Moorcroft. It stars Simon Pegg, Andy Serkis, Isla Fisher (below), Tom Wilkinson, Tim Curry, Reece Shearsmith, Hugh Bonneville, Allan Corduner, Georgia King, Bill Bailey, Stephen Merchant and Jessica Hynes.

BURKE & HARE s a comedic take on the true story of the 1828 Edinburgh body-snatchers William Burke (Pegg) and William Hare (Serkis). These two Irish entrepreneurs discover that a dead body can fetch a hefty price when the demands of the leading medical professors Dr. Knox (Wilkinson) and Dr. Monroe (Curry) reach beyond that of the local supply.
